EMU SWAGS – the making of…

After trying & buying over a dozen different swags trying to find the right one that fitted me & had plenty of room & didn’t have parts that break (plastic clips, buckles etc), all the swags I’ve purchased we’re too short in length, my head & feet always touched the canvas & weren’t wide enough. The plastic clips broke when trying to push them together whole rolling them up and I’ve even had the poles break!

So I thought, I’m going to make my own! Long enough to fit comfortably & wide enough not to touch the sides. So I made it 7 foot long and a metre wide, plenty of room. It has a large screen window at the rear & a large screen window facing skyward with both having zip-up canvas panels if you get cold. It has metal rods sewn in at both ends to keep it nice and taught, and I even made a PVC mat that you can roll out in the morning with enough room to sit on without getting a wet bum to put your boots on. It has plenty of rope at each end for tying the swag up. If you’re tired & couldn’t be bothered setting the poles up (one at each end) you can simply tie the swag  off to your bullbar or a fence, tree, anything & still have the best night’s sleep you’ll ever have.

In the morning you can roll the swag up with your sleeping bag still in it if you want to save time for the next night’s set up, & when you roll the swag up there’s no cheap flimsy plastic clips to try and hold your 15 oz heavy duty canvas swag together, we use steel D rings to pull the heavy duty straps through to keep the swag nicely rolled up, no breakable parts, just heavy duty Australian quality.
Enjoy your emu swag today. It’s more then a swag, it’s a lifestyle.
Camp your ass off, get out there…
